Welcome letter

Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the Management and Scientific Committees of EUROMAT2015. We invite you to attend this next conference in the EUROMAT series which will be hosted in Warsaw, on 20–24 September 2015. The venue will be the Warsaw University of Technology, the oldest and the largest technical university in Poland. The conference will be centred in the beautiful setting of the 19th century main building of the University.

The EUROMAT conferences have been held every two years since 1989, and have an increased record of bringing together up to 2000 researchers, scientists, trainees, and students from both academia and industry to discuss critical developments and perspectives in the field of materials science and technology and their applications. In 2015, the symposia within the conference will be grouped under the main headings: (A) Functional Materials, (B) Structural Materials, (C) Processing, (D) Characterization and Modelling, (E) Energy and Environment, and (F) Biomaterials and Healthcare, and there will be additional contributions on (G) Education, Technology Transfer and Strategic Materials.

The programme will include plenary lectures, parallel sessions and poster presentations. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed for quality and impact. Accepted abstracts will be assigned to oral or poster sessions, and will appear in the programme booklet. An industrial exhibition will accompany the event and a social program as well.

EUROMAT2015 marks the first time that a conference in this series has been held in Poland. Warsaw, Poland’s capital and largest city, is an economic, political, and cultural centre. It is a city with a rich history, and a wonderful combination of modern urban development and historical architecture.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to join us at this exciting and important conference and to visit Warsaw. We look forward to seeing you at EUROMAT in September 2015.

On behalf of the Management and Scientific Committees,
Wojciech Swieszkowski and A. Lindsay Greer
